SquidSeed is a client application. It has no accounts, no servers of its own, and no analytics. It talks only to the qBittorrent and Jellyfin servers you point it at, and it keeps what it needs on your device.
SquidSeed is a remote control for software you already run. It sends commands to a qBittorrent server and, optionally, to a Jellyfin server, both of which you install, configure and operate yourself.
The app contains no torrent index, no search facility, no catalogue, no trackers, no bundled sources and no pre-configured servers. It is empty until you supply the address of a server you control. It cannot obtain content on its own, and it does not become useful without infrastructure that is entirely yours.
In the same way a web browser is not the websites you visit and an email client is not your messages, SquidSeed is not the files that pass through your server.

There is no telemetry, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, no attribution or install tracking, no cookies, no fingerprinting and no profiling. The application contains no software development kit belonging to any analytics, advertising or crash-reporting provider, and no code path in the app sends any information to the developer or to any third party.
The developer therefore holds no data about you, cannot identify you, cannot see which servers you use, and cannot see what you download. This is a property of how the app is built, not a promise about how data is handled after collection: the data is never collected in the first place.
So that you are not asked to sign in on every launch, SquidSeed stores the following on the device itself. None of it leaves the device except to reach the servers you configured.
Credentials and the device identifier are held in the platform's secure credential store — the Keychain on iOS and the Keystore-backed encrypted store on Android — rather than in ordinary application storage. These are the facilities the operating system provides for exactly this purpose.
No security measure inside an application can protect data on a device that is itself compromised, unlocked and unattended, or deliberately rooted or jailbroken. Keeping your device secure remains your responsibility.
SquidSeed connects directly from your device to the servers whose addresses you enter. There is no intermediary, no proxy operated by the developer, and no relay service. Traffic does not pass through the developer's infrastructure, because no such infrastructure exists.
Your own servers will see this traffic and may record it in their logs, according to how you have configured them. That data is yours, held on your equipment, and is outside the scope of this policy.
Where a server is reachable over an encrypted connection, SquidSeed prefers it. Unencrypted connections are permitted only to private network addresses — the address ranges reserved for local networks — and are refused for public addresses, so that credentials are never sent in the clear across the open internet.
SquidSeed shares data with no third party, because it sends data to no third party. It has no advertising partners, no analytics vendors, no cloud backend and no affiliates.
The app is built with open-source libraries, principally React Native and the Expo framework. These are compiled into the application; they are not services, and the versions used in SquidSeed do not transmit information about you.
If you install the app from Apple's App Store or Google Play, those companies collect information about the installation according to their own policies. That relationship is between you and them, and the developer receives no personal data from it.
SquidSeed asks for the minimum required to reach your servers.
Because all data stays on your device, you control its removal completely and without asking anyone.
Disconnecting a server from within Settings erases that server's stored credentials immediately. Clearing the acceptance checkbox on the welcome screen deletes the record of your acceptance. Uninstalling the app removes everything it has stored, including the credential store entries, the device identifier, the acceptance record and any cached files. There is nothing held elsewhere to request the deletion of, and no retention period applies, because there is no other copy.
SquidSeed is not directed at children, is not designed for them and collects no data from anyone regardless of age. It requires the user to already operate their own server infrastructure.
This section is important, and it is stated plainly.
The developer of SquidSeed does not host, store, provide, supply, index, catalogue, search for, recommend, seed, distribute or otherwise make available any content of any kind. The application ships with no sources, no trackers, no indexes, no links and no content. It has no capability to discover content, and none is bundled with it.
SquidSeed transmits instructions to software that you run, on hardware that you control, over a network that you arrange. The developer has no visibility into what you download, no ability to see it, no ability to influence it and no involvement in it whatsoever.
You alone decide what to download. You alone are responsible for that choice and for its consequences. You are responsible for ensuring that your use complies with all laws applicable to you, with the rights of copyright holders and other rights holders, and with the terms of any service or network you use. The developer accepts no responsibility or liability for the nature, legality or content of any file that you obtain, share or distribute using your own server, whether or not SquidSeed was used to instruct it.
The BitTorrent protocol is a general-purpose file distribution technology with many entirely lawful uses, including the distribution of Linux distributions, open datasets, public-domain and freely licensed works, and independently produced media. SquidSeed is provided as a management tool for such lawful use. It is not intended for, and must not be used for, infringing the rights of others.
Before SquidSeed can be set up it asks you to accept this policy and this disclaimer, and it will not proceed until you do. Accepting records only that you accepted, and when — no personal information is gathered in the process, and nothing about it is transmitted. If you do not accept, the app simply does not continue; you may close it at any time.
If you cannot use SquidSeed lawfully in your jurisdiction and circumstances, do not use it.
SquidSeed is provided as is and as available, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
The developer does not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free, nor that it will be compatible with any particular version of qBittorrent or Jellyfin. Those projects are independent of SquidSeed and may change in ways that break it.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the developer shall not be liable for any loss of data, loss of profits, service interruption, device or server damage, legal claim, or any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the app. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions of liability, in which case those exclusions apply only to the extent permitted.
You remain responsible for maintaining your own backups. Actions taken through SquidSeed — including deleting a torrent together with its files — are carried out by your server and cannot be undone by the app.
SquidSeed is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or otherwise connected to the qBittorrent project, the Jellyfin project, BitTorrent Inc., Apple Inc. or Google LLC. Product names are used only to identify the software SquidSeed interoperates with, and remain the property of their respective owners.
If this policy changes, the revised version will ship with an app update and the date below will change. Because no data is collected, a change here cannot retroactively affect information already gathered — there is none.
